New York State of Mind: Erasmus Hall’s Curtis Samuel – ATH – ’14

New York has a lot of football players who get overlooked because of the “basketball” reputation that the state has, especially in five boroughs: Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, Manhattan, and the Bronx.  One player who has earned a whole lot of attention as one of the best football players on the East Coast is Erasmus Hall’s Curtis Samuel (class of 2014).  Samuel is a 6’0″, 185 pound running back and safety who is currently holding offers from: Connecticut, Boston College, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Rutgers, Syracuse, and Virginia.

Samuel is a terrific all-around weapon who is a threat to score from any part of the field whether it’s through him running , receiving, or returning the football.  He gained 1,347 all-purpose yards on 111 touches (he was a 1,000 yard rusher).  He’s also plays safety on the defensive side of the ball.  With speed in the 4.4. range, Samuel’s playmaking ability is evident while watching his highlight video.   He recently ran a 6.44 in the 55 meter dash during an indoor track event.  The kid has wheels.
