Varsity Preps SEC Recruiting Notebook

Autry Likes Tigers

– Ath Myles Autry from Norcross HS (Ga) received an official offer on Tuesday from LSU and immediately had the Tigers at the top of his list. Autry is currently rehabbing a torn ACL/MCL injury but hasn’t seen his recruitment slow down at all. He is considered an athlete because he could help at multiple positions in college but many schools like Autry at RB. LSU is now considered a favorite for Autry and he plans to make an unofficial visit to Baton Rouge at sometime this summer.

Autry has collected 20 plus BCS offers. Home state school Georgia also looks like a favorite along with Ohio St, Florida and Oregon. Autry is open minded to attending college outside of the south but many believe he will eventually sign with an SEC school. LSU should be a strong contender for Autry’s services when he eventually makes his decision.

Vols Offer Alabama DE

– HC Butch Jones and the Tennessee Vols dipped into the state of Alabama on Tuesday night and officially offered McAdory HS (AL) DE Cory Thomas. The Vols have been interested in Thomas for quite some time but finally decided to pull the trigger on an offer.

Thomas now has 10 official college offers. Florida, Mississippi St, Ole Miss and Kentucky join Tennessee in SEC schools that have offered the Alabama state prospect. Thomas doesn’t claim to have any leaders at this time but really likes what he is hearing from Mississippi St and Tennessee. Two non offered SEC schools that could make a difference on Thomas is Alabama and Auburn. He is very interested in the home state schools and could be holding out for those official offers.

2015 DB Adds Two SEC Offers

– University School (FL) 2015 DB Rashard Causey is already considered a high level prospect for his recruiting class and on Tuesday he added official offers from Mississippi State and Vanderbilt.

Both State and Vandy became Causey’s 1st SEC offers. He is now up to 6 and could close to receiving more. Arkansas, Kentucky and Ole Miss have all shown interest within the past few weeks and could be the next SEC school to offer Causey. His talents at CB gives him the chance to achieve multiple D1 offers. This summer Causey will hit the camp circuit and his performance could lead to not only more offers but more offers from SEC programs

Missouri Commit Visited by Pac 12 Program

– Christ Presbyterian Academy (TN) WR Thomas Richard recently made a commitment to Missouri but that hasn’t stopped coaches from pursuing the Middle Tennessee prospect. On Tuesday the UCLA Bruins came to Nashville to see Richard and they seemed very pleased with what they saw. Richard is a fast rising prospect that has seen his recruitment explode over the past few months. His commitment to Missouri is strong but he is sure to see more BCS offers come his way.

One school to watch out for is Tennessee. Richard grew up a Vols fan and would be very intrigued if they extended an offer. Richard really wants to stay close to home to play his college ball so Tennessee could be a viable option for him. UCLA is a team that could give Richard a lot to think about. They are a rising team out west that is coached by a former NFL coach. Richard has the talents to play at UCLA and they will continue to pursue him regardless of his commitment.

Bulldogs Offer 3 Atlanta Area Prospects

Mississippi St was in the city of Atlanta recruiting on Tuesday and they stopped by Langston Hughes HS (Ga) to offer 2014 RB Keion Davis as well as 2015 stud DE D’Andre Walker and 2015 LB Montavious Atkinson. All three players have seen their recruitment go fast recently and both Walker and Atkinson look to be high priority prospects in 2015.

Davis is a strong, powerful RB that fits the mold of Mississippi St running backs. Walker and Atkinson are big time athletes that could become difference makers on the next level. The Bulldogs have done well in the state of Georgia and they extending offers to three players on Tuesday that many college coaches want for themselves.

Hialeah Lineman Visit with Bama

– C A’lique Terry from Hialeah HS (FL) has seen his stock sore recently and on Tuesday he was visited by the defending National Champs the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Coach Cristobal from Alabama visited with Terry on Tuesday and told him the Tide was very interested in his abilities. Bama has recruited well in the South Florida area and looks to continue to do the same for the 2014 recruiting class. Terry has seen his stock sore of the past few weeks. He has recently collected offers from Cincinnati, East Carolina and Tulane.

Terry is taking his time with his process but the new interest from Alabama has him very interested. Besides the Tide, Terry is also receiving interest from other SEC schools like Kentucky, Ole Miss, Tennessee and Vanderbilt. Later this summer Terry plans to visit most of the schools interested in him and that includes Alabama.

Dores Showing Strong Interest in Reagan

– Clarksville HS (TN) OG Bruno Reagan is quickly rising up the recruiting charts and one school showing strong interest is the Vanderbilt Commodores. The Dores coaching staff has been on the trail of Reagan for quite a while and on Friday they are planned to be in Clarksville to visit with the mauling lineman.

Reagan is a strong, physical and athletic lineman that is also an all state wrestler. His physical traits have led to college coaches taking an interest in him and Vanderbilt could be the next school to offer. Reagan is set to see Vanderbilt on Friday and right now he holds the Dores in high favor. An offer from Vanderbilt would intrigue Reagan but according to him he is still wanting to take his time with his process. He has official offers from UConn, USF and Western Kentucky. Reagan really likes USF right now and has a strong connection with your coaching staff.

He does plan to make several unofficial visits this summer along with attending multiple camps. Vanderbilt and USF are definitely strong suitors for visits from Reagan and both could be battling it out for his services.

MS Ath Adds Another SEC Offer

– The Tennessee Vols became the newest SEC offer for Greenville Weston HS (MS) Ath Gerri Green and he is certainly no where near finished from the seeing the offers stop. Green picked up an offer last week from Auburn to go along with his previous SEC offers in Mississippi St and Ole Miss. Now Tennessee joined the fold and they could be looking to add him on the defensive side of the ball at linebacker.

Green is a very athletic prospect that has the size (6’4 215 lbs) and skill level to play either side of the ball in college. College and SEC coaches have taken notice and he could easily see his stock blow up in the very near future. Mississippi St is looked at as the early leader but if more coaches from all over the country get involved than things could change. Excellent prospect that has tremendous upside and the talents to play on the BCS stage.
