USF Looking Hard at Tampa Ath

St. Petersburg Catholic HS (FL) Ath Chris White has gone through his college recruitment without much recognition but slowly he is beginning to creep up recruiting boards and could be on the verge of receiving multiple offers.

So far White has received an official offer from Akron but one in state school has started to show strong interest and could be close to sending an official offer.

“I have been in talks a lot lately with South Florida and the coaches there seem to be really interested in my abilities,” said White. “I like a lot of things about their program and I think they have a bright future with the new coaching staff there.”

“I recently visted USF and I liked everything I saw. The coaches tell me they are continuing to evaluate me. I think an offer from them could be coming. I am just not sure as to when. If that offer does come I would be real excited about it.”

White is a prospect that many evaluators consider as a defensive back but his talents stretch farther then that. He is an exceptional athlete that has outstanding speed and the ability to make a play whenever he is on the field. White is talented enough that he could become a great value to either side of the ball for whoever he eventually signs with.

Going into his senior season, White is looking to make a name for himself on the camp circuit this summer. He feels his talents are comparable to some of the best players in the country and he plans to prove his case in the near future.

“My goal this offseason is to continue to get better but also make a name for myself among all my peers and coaches,” White said. “I feel I am vastly underrated and my abilities have gone a bit unnoticed. I am perfectly ok with the situation I am currently sitting in because that means all I have to do is to continue to work hard and my dreams will come true.”

“I love the game of football and I want to continue playing the game I love on the highest level possible. If it means I have to hit each and every camp this summer to generate more interest then that is exactly what I will do.”

Many college coaches recruit the Tampa area hard so White is sure to see plenty of coaches around his parts over the next several months. He is hoping more and more schools become interested which would give him plenty of options to think about.

Several schools are staying in contact with White and pursuing him from a distance. BCS level programs as well as others are actively staying in contact and keeping the lines of communication open to White for whenever they decide to offer.

“The main schools pursuing me right now are Akron, USF, Kentucky, Auburn, Missouri, FIU and Miami,” says White. “I am actually trying to make it out to Auburn this weekend if I can find a way up there. The coaches there tell me they like my versatility and would to visit with me in person.”

“All the other schools recruiting me tell me that they want to come see my in spring practice so they can get a better feel for my game. I know Kentucky, USF and Miami all plan to make it out and I am sure more will follow.”

White plans to use all the time he has before he is ready to make any decisions. He has no idea how things will play out but does want to keep an open mind to anyone that becomes interested in his talents.

“I have no favorites right now. I am just working the process the best way I can and waiting to see what options come my way,” he said. “I would like to stay close to home so my family can see me play but if a school out of state offers me a great opportunity I will certainly look into it. I do I like USF a lot but don’t hold them in favor over anyone else.”

“I think I am still in the beginning stages of my recruitment so I have a long way to go before my journey is over. I am enjoying the process and I think if I keep working hard on and off the field that the options I am looking for will come my way.”
