Under-the-Radar: Westminster Chr. QB Hunter Boyett

2014 QB Hunter Boyett (6’1, 190) of Westminster Christian in Miami, Florida, is being recruited by four Ivy league programs: Dartmouth, Harvard, Princeton, and Penn. He sports a 3.8 GPA and scored a 28 on his ACT.

Boyett told Varsity Preps he’ll most likely attend one of the four. He spoke bout each program recruiting him.

“I keep in regular contact with the coaches at Dartmouth. They already have my transcripts and everything they need, and I’ve already applied for acceptance. The staff told me I’m their No. 1 quarterback on their board. Coach Sammy McCorkle came down to meet me, we clicked, and I flew to their camp and really liked the atmosphere there.

“I toured Penn over the summer and it was very impressive. The weight room is really nice and I really like the coaching staff. The education they offer is amazing.

“I attended the Junior Day at Princeton. It’s another great school,” Boyett said. “I was a part of a large tour group, so I didn’t get to talk to the coaches much, but I really enjoyed it.

“The campus at Harvard is amazing. I spoke with the coaches some and they have a great atmosphere there. I’d like to take another visit because I didn’t get to see everything I wanted.”

Boyett said that Dartmouth is his leader currently.

“After interacting with the staff, I can definitely see myself playing for them and spending four years of my life there.”

The senior signal-caller has an idea on when he’ll make his college choice.

“I’ll make a decision after the season, I’m focused on getting my team to into the state championship game.”

The weapons on offense that Boyett can target are or will be highly touted prospects. He talked about the ridiculous talent Westminster Christian has on offense.

“Junior WR Devonaire Clarington (6’6, 225) is a big, fast target that catches everything. Tony Gaiter (5’8, 160, 2016) is one of our go-to guys. He reminds me of Santana Moss because of the separation he gets. He’ll be the next big thing and is very impressive. Tobias Moss runs really good routes, gets good separation. Oliver Black and Khiari Reaser are really fast.

“Of course, RBs Tim Irvin and Jordan Cronkrite are both beasts, they both can do everything.”

Boyett feels Westminster Christian has the tools to win a championship.

“I think we can get to the state championship game and win it. I think we’ve really gelled and our cohesion as a team will help us down the road.”
