Under the Radar QBs from the Boot

There is no doubt that Louisiana is loaded with talent, particularly in the pocket.

Cee Jay Powell

Picking up his second offer from Jackson State (Wed., Jan 13), Livonia’s senior stud Cee Jay Powell has been a dominant force on the field with his athleticism as he manages to work the QB/WR position. The 6’8, 165-pound QB has had two very explosive seasons in which he finished his junior season 93-170-5 for 1,555 yards with 21 TDs and 1,1,180 yards receiving on 76 catches and 12 TDs and his performance throughout his senior season earned him a spot on the 2015 First Team All-District and All-State Honorable Mention. Along with his success on the field, Powell puts work inside the classroom as well as he maintains a 3.3 GPA and a 22 ACT.

Torez Kinchen

Denham Springs has many things going for them, but not many have seen the hidden gem behind the Yellowjackets’ offensive line. Torez Kinchen is a 6’2, 205-pound senior two-sporter (basketball being the second). Kinchen truly began showcasing his arm his junior year, where he finished 104-202-4 for 1,186 yards passing and 12 TDs. In his senior season, Kinchen threw for 71-121-3 for 1,111 yards passing and 13 TDs in the eight games he played in before his injury. Although his high school career may be over, it is not hindering Kinchen from working hard to rehab his shoulder and fulfill his dreams of playing college football and keep working hard in the classroom where he maintains a 2.5 GPA and a 24 ACT.

Edwin Kleinpeter

Earning a spot on the 2015 First Team All-District, it is not hard to tell why/how Madison Prep’s Edwin Kleinpeter got voted. In 2014 Kleinpeter made his debut in the QB slot for the Chargers his sophomore year and finished the season 37-of-63 for 550 yards and 8 TDs. After lots of playing time and offseason work, Kleinpeter finished his junior season 90-of-160 for 1,700 yards and 24 TDs. Along with putting in work in the pocket, Kleinpeter also plays baseball (pitcher, short stop and second) and maintains a 2.0 GPA.

Aaron Howell

This year has been a year of hardwork for St. Mary’s in Natchitoches. The same goes for their sophomore QB, Aaron Howell, who made his debut. The 6’3, 205-pound QB carried his team to the finals and finished the season 103-192-9 for 1,586 yards and 26 TDS and  711 yards rushing on 128 carries and 12 TDs. Howell’s performance earned him a spot on the 2015 First Team All-District, District 3-1A Offensive MVP and All-State Honorable Mention. However, Howell’s hardwork does not end there. Howell also maintains a 4.0 GPA and a 20 ACT.
