Tre Betts Recruitment Gaining Steam

Sand Springs (OK) Charles Page High School junior DB Tre Betts has that great combination of size and speed at 5-11,173 pounds, that college coaches love to see. Betts has the speed, coverage skills and the   athleticism to play corner, but also has the frame and the mentality to be a solid college safety.

Betts is a player that any coach would love to have on their roster. The 2014 prospect played multiple positions while helping to lead his team to a playoff birth. Betts racked up 103 tackles, 6 ints; returning 2 for scores.  Betts also rushed for a TD, and was 16/17 on PAT conversions.

Betts excels not only on the football field, but in the classroom and on the soccer field. He carries a 3.6 GPA and has already scored high above the required ACT minimum.

“Academics are very important. My mother and father have instilled in me the importance of academics. It makes the process a whole lot easier.”

Betts’ recruitment is starting to gain momentum. He recently picked up his first offer from Central Arkansas.

“The offer from UCA was a blessing. To be looked at by any school and offered a full scholarship is truly a blessing and a wonderful opportunity. ”

The junior standout told Varsity Preps that he’s hearing from Oregon State, Oklahoma State, Colorado, Baylor and TCU. Betts has taken unofficial visits to Baylor, Oklahoma State and TCU.

“I really like Baylor, Oklahoma State and Arkansas. They are all close to home. Baylor has one of the top medical centers in the nation. I love the atmosphere and the location of Oklahoma State. And Arkansas is SEC, a conference that I would love to play in.”

This summer, Betts plans to camp at TCU, Arkansas State, Arkansas, Oklahoma State, Kansas, Kansas State and Central Arkansas.

“I’m looking to prove that I may not be the fastest, the strongest, or the biggest, but I refuse to let anyone out work me. I’ve gone through a lot to get where I am. I have prayed nonstop about my dream.  I don’t know what to expect from the camps, so I’m leaving it in the hands of God, who knows what’s best.”
