Thunder ‘n’ Lightning headed Nevada’s direction

After pounding Valley opponents with their diverse running styles for the past two years, Edison’s Blake Wright and Kevin Nutt will take their Thunder ‘n’ Lightning attack to Reno to play for the Wolf Pack.

This week Nutt and Wright both verbally committed to play for Nevada. The duo contemplated playing together at the next level for some time.

“You know you can’t have thunder without lightning, that’s just impossible,” Nutt explained.

Nutt, also a track star for the Tigers, serves as the lightning, while Wright’s power running style makes him the thunder of the tandem.

While the Wolf Pack offered Wright as a running back, Nutt committed as an athlete and he likely may end up as a defensive back.

During their visit to Reno, the Wolf Pack coaching staff was able to convey to them their potential value to both the program and the school.

“We committed to Nevada because they committed to us,” Wright said. “They gave us an offer on our academics. When we heard this, Nutt and I decided that we really like what they told us and so we committed.”

The staff gave Nutt the same impression.

“When we took a visit we liked the campus and all of the coaching staff—they just seemed so honest,” Nutt said.

The duo have big plans in store for both the long run and immediate future.

“Just know thunder and lightning will strike again,” Wright said.
