Stock on the Rise for Memphis Ath

Mitchell HS (TN) 2014 Ath DeJuan McQuarters is a talented prospect that has seen his recruitment run slow but now is seeing his stock on the rise as several D1 college coaches have been stopping through to see him at school.

On Monday coaches from Arkansas St, Kentucky, Ohio St and Vanderbilt all came to Mitchell HS to check in on McQuarters and get a better sense as to who he is as a player both on and off the field.

McQuarters has been able to collect 6 official offers thus far but he feels the big boys of college football is on the verge of throwing their hats into the mix.

“I have been gaining interest on the recruiting scene for several weeks now but I think I could be close to seeing some of the best college football teams in the country come through with bigger interest, said McQuarters.”

“Yesterday was awesome as I had Big 10 and SEC schools on campus looking at me. It was the first time I had seen Ohio St down here and they told me they was impressed and planned to stay in more contact with me. I also received good feedback from Kentucky and Vanderbilt and I really would like to hear more from both of them as well.”

Athleticism, versatility and work ethic are words that best describe McQuarters and the way he goes about his business on the football field. He  could offer his talents to anyone on either side of the ball whether it be at wide receiver or defensive back.

McQuarters (5’10 175 lbs) is someone that doesn’t let any moment to work go past him. He stays on the grind day in and day out working inside the weight room while also keeping a strong stance in the class room. He is student athlete that looks at the college experience as something that means a lot to him but also an avenue that could lead him to a bright future in football.

“I feel blessed right now to be receiving offers but also to be receiving the opportunity to attend college,” says McQuarters. “I have big plans for my life and I know that if I want to have a successful future that it all starts in college.”

“Wherever I end up attending I plan to use my experience in the best way possible. I plan to earn my degree while also putting in the work on the football field to hopefully play in the NFL one day. I am excited about what’s going on in my life right now and I definitely will not take this process for granted.”

So far schools like Air Force, MTSU and Memphis has offered McQuarters along with others. He is grateful for the offers he currently has but is certainly holding out hope for some bigger schools to show stronger interest.

“I really think my recruitment is close to blowing up,” said McQuarters. “I have been receiving a lot of interest lately from several schools and more and more coaches seem to be getting involved. Spring practice just started up for us so I expecting more coaches to come down and check me out.”

“I have confidence in my abilities and I truly believe I can excel on the biggest stage possible. I am in no rush to end my process. I am just waiting and taking my time seeing what comes my way. I want to make the absolute best decision for me so right now I am still looking through my options and waiting for that right fit to come my way.”

Offers: Air Force, MTSU, Memphis, Tennessee St and UT Martin. Schools Interested: Arkansas St, Indiana, Kentucky, Mississippi St, Ole Miss, Ohio St, Tennessee and Vanderbilt.
