Sophomore To Watch: ANDRE ROBINSON – RB-PA – Bishop McDevitt H.S.

NAME– Andre Robinson

SCHOOL – Bishop McDevitt (Harrisburg, PA)

VITALS – 5’10”, 200 LBS.

Today’s “Sophomore To Watch” is running back Andre Robinson out of Bishop McDevitt High School in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.  The name of the high school should sound familiar.  Bishop McDevitt has produced several great running backs in the last decade or so including Ricky Watter (former NFL player), LeSean McCoy (current NFL player) and Jameel Poteat (Bishop McDevitt’s all-time career leading rusher).  Time will tell whether or not Robinson will make his mark as one of the best to come out of Bishop McDevitt, but he certainly is off to a terrific start.

Robinson is listed at 5’10”, 210 pounds, but he may even be bigger than that.  During the 2012 season, he missed several games due to an ankle injury.  Robinson also gained over 1,000 yards while sharing carries with the speedy Rashad Lawson (Class of 2014 as well). Robinson is one of those all-around running backs that colleges covet.  He’s big enough to take a pounding and run through tackles, but has the quickness and shiftiness to make tacklers miss as well.

Robinson also has nice hands and is another weapon in Bishop McDevitt’s passing game, especially when they run their screen plays.  I’ve seen Robinson in person several times and he has very powerful legs which enable him to either gain yards after contact or  run through would-be tacklers on a regular basis.  Robinson is a compact running back with excellent vision as well.  Robinson is on target to break out on the statewide level in 2012.  Click here to view his 2012 season highlight video.
