Rising Star: 2015 Watch List RB Alex Anderson, Miramar

2015 Watch List RB Alex Anderson (Miramar, Fla.) was a standout at the Clear Vision Clear Dreams camp last Sunday held in West Palm Beach at Oxbridge Academy.

The 6-foot-1, 205 pound junior running back told Varsity Preps his offer list growing.

“I’m around eight offers total. Boston College, North Carolina, Georgia Tech, Wisconsin, and Tennessee have offered, there’s a few more.”

Anderson also says another ACC program has begun the recruiting process with him.

“My coach told me Florida St. is interested, but I haven’t been offered by them yet.”

Miramar’s talented tailback hasn’t camped much this offseason. However, he’s planning a trip north to check out an SEC program that has offered.

“I’m scheduling a trip to Tennessee before fall practice starts. They offered and I really want to get up to Knoxville to take a closer look at them.”

While Anderson is starting to collect some big time offers, he says he didn’t play much last season.

“Last year, I was fresh into the program and just learning everything I could, so I didn’t produce huge numbers.”

He reports that he’s taking his recruitment slowly and has no frontrunners.

“No favorites, I’m wide open.”

Anderson will take two factors into great consideration when making his college choice.

“I’m looking for outstanding academics and a great football program,” he said. “My mom stays on me about my grades even though I have a 3.0.”

It’s no secret Miramar has a talented squad headed into the 2013 season. Anderson talked about what he envisions for himself and his team this fall.

“I want to be a leader and step up into a starter’s role. I also believe anything less than a state championship this season would be a disappointment for us. We have so much talent and great coaching; head coach Damon Cogdell is one of the best. I think we’re primed to go all the way.”

Anderson has no timetable on making his decision public.

“Honestly, I’m not sure. I’m in no rush to make a commitment.”
