Recruiting Heating Up for 2015 Northwestern DB

2015 Watch List CB Khalid McGee (5’10, 185, 4.4) of Miami Northwestern currently holds offers from Central FloridaFlorida AtlanticFlorida International, and Akron. He’s hearing frequently from South Florida, Florida, Louisville, Miami, Clemson, and Georgia.

The talented corner told Deep South Recruiting that UCF is showing him a lot of attention.

“They send me a lot of mail and I’ve received several invitations to home games, but I haven’t been able to make it. I feel like they’re recruiting me hard right now.”

McGee said the hometown Hurricanes are expressing interest.

“The Hurricanes have invited me to a couple of games, but I didn’t attend. I visited a practice unofficially and I participated at a camp last year,” he said. “I had a couple of conversations with Micheal Barrow and think I could fit in defensively at Miami. I think they’re interested, but UM isn’t recruiting me like a few other programs are right now.”

The standout junior says USF and FSU have also inquired about him.

USF running backs coach Telly Lockette visited school and he showed interest, so I feel they’re looking at me,” he explained. “Florida St. was the first school to recruit me. The Seminoles have done a decent job staying in touch.”

With all the programs that are currently recruiting him, McGee said he feels the Georgia Bulldogs are recruiting him the hardest. “They send lots of mail and emails, they’ve invited me to see several home games,” he shared. “I attended a camp last year and they’ve kept in touch with me ever since. Head coach Mark Richt keeps checking up on me through my coach, so they’re recruiting me heavily.”

According to McGee, the Louisville Cardinals are also pursuing him heavily and will be a program to watch as his recruitment unfolds.

He detailed his offseason plans which includes playing for a 7-on-7 powerhouse.

“I’m planning on playing for the South Florida Express during the spring. This summer I plan on attending camps at ClemsonSouth Carolina, and Alabama.”

McGee discussed the factors that will be important to him in the recruiting process.

“I would really like to have the chance to compete for playing time as a freshman and academics will play a role,” he said. “But I think the program that recruits me the hardest, where I feel the most wanted, is where I’ll attend.”
