“My biggest influence is my family and coaches.  I want to do something big in my community and build the program back up.  Also the critics add fuel to the fire for me because when people say I can’t do something I am bound and determined to show them I can.  My favorite quote: “They said I couldn’t, that’s why I did.” – Cameron Heil Class of 2017

One of the most outstanding Linebackers in the State of Louisiana for the Class of 2017 is Cameron Heil of Baker High School in Baker, Louisiana.  As Heil approaches his Senior season, he strives to use the 2016 spring and summer to focus on working hard to improve and grow as a player, a leader for his team, and an even better student of the game.  In the classroom, Heil strives to get better everyday as a student athlete maintaining a 3.4 GPA and currently has a 19 ACT. He will take the ACT again in the spring and fall of 2016. He is also looking at the opportunity to graduate early.

The easiest words to describe Heil on the field – fluid, athletic, and relentless.  His athleticism and talent, as a defensive player, allows him to move effortlessly to his target and deliver the hit.  His speed gives him the range to cover sideline to sideline, get downfield quickly in pursuit of quarterbacks and running backs, and he has the speed to run down players from behind.  He quickly zones in on his target and he is relentless in his pursuit.  Opposing quarterbacks find it difficult to throw in his zone because Heil has an exceptional reach and range which allows him to knock down passes and create interception opportunities.  On the offensive side of the ball, Heil will line up as a slot receiver to masterfully block down field for his offensive teammates and he has great hands if he is ever called upon as a receiver.  He also handled the kicking duties for the Buffaloes in 2015.

Heil’s summer plans include attending several camps along with attending the Nike Open Regionals where he can display his skills.
