PA’S Best Kept Secret: Joey Adams – LB- C/O 2014

Up until now, Harrisburg High School linebacker Joey Adams might have been the best kept secret in recruiting circles.  College coaches may want to give Adams a nice long look once they get a chance to look at his recently finished highlight video (credit to his head coach, Cal Everett).

Adams is a 6’1″, 200 pound outside linebacker who earned 1st Team All-League and 2nd Team All-State honors during the 2012 season.  Primarily used as a pass rusher, Adams’s speed coming off the edge causes big problems for any lineman trying to block him.  In Harrisburg’s defense, the main job for Adams is to locate the ball carrier and make a play.  It’s safe to say, Adams does a tremendous job of doing that.  Adams isn’t asked to drop back into pass coverage too much, but I think he’s athletic enough to be a good pass defender out of the linebacker position as well.

The bottom line is that he is a difference maker on the defensive side of the ball.  What I like about him is that he is relentless, doesn’t give up on plays, and is a sure tackler.  I saw several Harrisburg games in person last year and always came away impressed by the defensive play of Adams.  He’s definitely a player to watch out for during the 2013 season.  Click here to view his highlights.
