Mississippi State Junior Day

The Weekend after National Signing day, Mississippi State will host its first Junior Day for the next cycle of recruits coming through the pipeline.  Several big name kid have made plans to attend and there will be plenty of star power on display in Starkville.  Looking ahead to that day, one of the words that comes to mind when describing this list is explosive.

One the offensive side of the ball, Mississippi State will have several big name athletes and players that have the ability to make thing happens.  Here are some of the names you can expect.

Malik Dear RB  Jackson Murrah HS–  5ft 10  200lbs-  Dear could be one of the most explosive players in the state of Mississippi.  Good things always happen when Malik has the ball in his hands.  He has already received offers from Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Alabama, Texas, Arizona State, Southern Miss, and Memphis to name a few.  Deer has recently said that MSU is a school that he considers home and the Bulldogs are starting to get a lead here.

J’Mar Smith  QB  Meridian HS– 6ft 1  202lbs-  I dont think its any surprise to anyone that follows Bulldog football that Smith is the number one guy on the quarterback board for Mississippi State next year.  He has the ability to beat you with both his arm and his legs and makes everyone around him better.  MSU has already extended an offer to Smith and he will be the target they covet going into summer camps.

Javon Patterson  OL  Petal HS– 6ft 4  295-  Patterson is without a doubt a top five player in the Magnolia State for 2015.  He is widely considered the top offensive lineman in the state and proves it on the field week after week.  Javon is a special athlete and the kind of player that can anchor an offensive line for many years to come.  Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Auburn, Alabama, LSU, and Tennessee have all extended offers and last report was MSU and Auburn hold a slight advantage.

Tommy Champion OL Jackson Callway HS– 6ft 5  300lbs-  Champion is a very very good prospect for the next class.  While playing alog side one of the top offensive lineman in the country last season, Champion excelled and a lot of times looked like the best lineman on his team.  Long and with a mean streak, he will be a player to watch this cycle.  He already holds offers from Mississippi State and Ole Miss.

Cam Myers  Athlete Oak Grove HS–  6ft 2  175lbs-  Myers is coming off of a state championship season with the Warriors and has already cast his lot for Mississippi State.  If Bulldogs fans are looking for a bellcow, this will be the guy.  Myers is already in the ear of every top commit the Bulldogs are after and will be one of the biggest helps in recruiting for them.

Kentavious Thomas  RB Baldwin HS (GA)– 5ft 11  200lbs-  One of the top running backs in the Peach State for 2015, Thomas has made no bones abut his live for the Mississippi State program.  He possesses a brusier mentality running the ball and speed to get away from you.  This could bear watching as Thomas and the Bulldogs look like a match made in heaven.

The defensive class for 2015 will be well represented at junior day as well.  Look for some of the top players in the country to come to Mississippi State for junior day to check out Coach Geoff Collins and his Psycho Defense.

Leo Lewis  LB  Brookhaven HS- 6ft 2  220lbs-  Lewis might very well be the most talented mike linebacker to come out of the Magnolia State in many years.  He is perfect for any defense in the country and schools are lining up to get in good with this young man.  Lewis has already received offers from MSU, Ole Miss, LSU, Alabama, Florida, and Arkansas and that list will grow.

Tim Washington  OLB  Yazoo City HS–  6ft 3  190lbs-  Washington took no time in jumping on an offer from Mississippi State, his dream school, when it was offered.  He is another player that will be in the ear of every top recruit the Bulldogs target.  Having the skill to play LB and the potential to grow into a rush end, its easy to see why most consider Washington one of the top prospects in the Magnolia State.

Jay Johnson DE  Bruce HS – 6ft 4  200lbs- Johnson is one of the top small school athletes in the Magnolia State and a very solid prospect.  He committed to Mississippi State already, but recently received an offer from Ole Miss.  This will be a battle all the way to signing day for this young man.  He is talented on both sides of the ball and a natural fit anywhere he decides to go.

Jamal Peters  S  Bassfield HS– 6ft3  200lbs-  Widely considered the top prospect in the Magnolia State, Peters will have his choice of where he would like to attend college.  He helped his team win a state championship this past fall and will probably do so again next season.  He is a freak of an athlete and probably one of the top players in the nation as well.

KT McCollins  CB  Oxford HS– 5ft 11  175lbs-  One of the sleepers in the class, McCollins wont be for long.  Having the length and play making abilities of a Johnthan Banks, KT is the definition of a lock down corner.  He will attend camps at Mississippi State and Ole Miss this year and I look for both schools to offer this very talented young corner.
