Another Miramar (FL) Patriot Added to the 2015 Watch List

2015 RB/DB Josmar Diaz-Martinez (5’10, 170, 4.6) of Miramar High in Florida comes in at #57 on Larry Blustein’s Class of 2015 Summer Top 80 and has been added to the Varsity Preps 2015 Watch List. Diaz was also named defensive back MVP of the NUC combine held at Coral Reef High earlier this year.

Diaz-Martinez transferred from Miami Norland to join the “Dark Side Defense”, giving Miramar big time players at every position in the secondary, forming perhaps the most talented defensive backfield in the state of Florida. Last season, he posted 60 tackles and three interceptions.

This summer, he’s camped at camped at USF and Miami. “I learned a lot of new techniques at USF,” Diaz-Martinez said. “At Miami, there was a tremendous amount of talent there. It’s a big time program, I enjoyed the experience of competing in front of their staff.” He plans to camp at FAU next month.

Miramar’s junior safety told Varsity Preps he’s not hearing from any programs currently, but that he has interest in Miami, Florida, Louisville. “Miami is close to home and they’re my all time favorite. Florida is in the SEC and it would be a tremendous opportunity to play there,” he said. “My god-brother Keith Brown plays for Louisville, so I have interest in them.”

Diaz-Martinez spoke about a few factors that will determine his college choice. “Distance from home will probably be the most important factor. I’d really prefer to play college football in Florida. Early playing time will be considered because I want the extra work and exposure. It’s my goal to eventually play professionally.”

Carrying a 4.0 GPA, Diaz-Martinez is excited to be a member of Miramar’s secondary and he thinks the unit can be special. “I think we’ll be nasty,” he said. “Our defense will swarm to the ball sideline-to-sideline, we’ll make plays, and I believe we’ll make a serious run at the state championship.”

I’m extremely proud of you Joey. He’s always kept GOD first, grades 2nd and Football 3rd. Scouts, I’d like you to know that Jeoy is first on the field and last leave. All of his coaches will agree Joey works hard in the film room and on the field. Joey’s played both sides of the ball for a long time now. His Football IQ is extrodanary. Most of all Joey is a positive player mind, body and soul. Your team will benefit from having him on your roster.
