Varsity Preps

Meet 2014 TX Safety Devin Gray

2014 SS/FS Devin Gray (5’11, 175, 4.4/40) of Dickinson High School in Texas currently hold’s one offer from Union College. He reports interest from Fresno St., San Jose St., Tulsa and Alabama St.

The Dickinson High safety currently has no camps planned because he recently was selected to Team USA. He tells Varsity Preps if any camps are available after July 13th, he would be open to attending camps.

When Gray selects a program, he will be looking at these factors: the environment, coaching staff, campus life and atmosphere. “The atmosphere is a main factor to me. I’m also looking at the climate. I’m a Texas boy so I’m used to the heat, but would be a tough transition to go from 100 degrees to 32 degrees.”

Gray explained what makes him an attractive prospect. “I have great tackling technique, awareness of where the ball is, my speed helps me make big plays, I have a non-stop motor and a coachable attitude. The fan’s will get their money’s worth when I am on the field.”

Gray tells Varsity Preps who’s standing out in his recruitment. “I like Florida, Alabama, Houston and USC. I like those schools the most, but I’m open to other schools that get involved in my recruitment.” He’ll make his decision on National Signing Day.

Lastly, Gray said he’s improving his game by “hitting the weight room, improving my footwork and my coverage skills.”
