LB Jim Jones IV Added to 2015 Watch List

2015 LB/RB Jim Jones IV (6’2, 215, 4.6) of FAMU DRS in Tallahassee recorded 100+ tackles, five forced fumbles, six sacks, and one interception this season. He also saw time at tight end and running back, posting five touchdown catches from the tight end position.

He’s been added to the 2015 Watch Lista list of the top junior prep players in the state of Florida.

The talented junior linebacker said he’s hearing from Florida St. and attended camps at Alabama and Central Florida last summer.

“I’ve attended several FSU home games this fall as an invited recruit for unofficial visits,” he said. “I saw the facilities when I attended camp, like the weight room and the indoor facility. It’s first class.

“When I attended the Alabama camp, I saw all the facilities and fell in love with it. I met Nick Saban and overall, it was an impressive visit.”

The Seminoles have invited Jones to attend their game this weekend against Idaho. He’s also slated to attend the annual Egg Bowl, the showdown between Ole Miss and Mississippi St. for an unofficial visit in Starkville.

Jones told Varsity Preps he has his eyes on another pair of programs.

“I’d like to hear from Miami and Auburn. My dad is a huge Hurricanes fan and would like to see me go there,” he explained. “I think I could play early there. They’ve struggled the last few weeks, but I’m confident they’ll bounce back.”

Over the offseason, Jones plans on hitting camps at Mississippi St.AlabamaFlorida St. and maybe Miami. He’ll also play basketball and run track to stay in shape.

When he decides on a program, school location won’t be a factor.

“It doesn’t matter, I just want to play college football and get my degree.”

Jones is confident in his game and he explained what makes him a standout linebacker.

“I love to hit and I like the physicality of the position. I’m capable of chasing down ball carriers sideline-to-sideline, I can fill the hole, and I can tackle in space. I also feel that I’m a good coverage linebacker.”
