For the thousands of high schools across America, every team entered the season with an established goal.  For some it was establishing a winning record or simply improving from last year, while others it was earning a spot in the playoffs and or winning a district title. Of course, the ultimate dream for all eligible teams is winning a state championship. When traditionally elite high school teams play other powerhouse programs from other states, it is a novelty.  Over 99% of the schools only play teams from their area. Regardless, various outlets provide polls every week at the local, state and national level which rank the various high schools.

When viewing these results, it should be noted that the 4A, 5A, 6A, 7A and 8A schools were recognized in at least three of the polls and the highest ranked teams resided in South Florida.  Miramar’s ranking of 25th in the Scout Top 50 was the highest of the non state champions from the state. Let’s see how the rest of the Florida schools fared this year and congratulations to all of the recipients.
