Kobe Marfo: Virginia Gem

Over the past few seasons, Kobe Marfo has been a steady factor at the cornerback position for Hayfield High School in Alexandria, VA. Marfo helped Hayfield reach the playoffs during the 2013 season and the goal this season is to advance further in the playoffs and secure a state championship. Hayfield High School finished with a 5-6 record in 2013. However, as the 2014 season gets underway, one side of the field should be in good shape; with Marfo keeping that area locked down.
During the 2013 season, Hayfield High School suffered some tough defeats. Hayfield lost to Washington-Lee High School by 2 points and a few weeks later fell to Yorktown High School by 5. With Marfo once again being in the secondary for Hayfield, the chances of a good season are greatly increased. Marfo has the talent to impact games and it would not surprise me to see him have a major impact on the outcome of a few games this season. One thing for certain is that college scouts will be watching Marfo closely as the 2014 season kicks off.
The list of schools that are evaluating Marfo is very impressive. Schools like Boston College, Rhode Island, Wake Forest, and Virginia Tech are all interested in this talented recruit. Marfo, at 5’11” and 176 lbs, is the size of most of the corners that are playing the college game today. What stands out to me about Marfo is that he does not shy away from making a tackle. The 2012 season proved that when he had over 90 tackles. The film will show that Marfo also does an excellent job of playing the ball in the air. However, he adds another dimension of not allowing the wide receiver to get past him. Marfo is a young man that, as good as he is on the field, he is perhaps a better individual off the field. Marfo is a very talented football player, but he is also a very respectful young man and one of the most polite recruits I have interviewed over the past few months. Be on the lookout for Kobe Marfo. He is going to be a player that people that follow college football recognize over the next couple of years.
