Jonathan Martin: Spotlight Florida 2015

Very few states produce the caliber and sheer numbers of high school football talent that Florida and Texas do. Therefore, it is easy to see why some recruits with a wealth of football potential manage to slip under the radar in these talent-rich football states. Jonathan Martin of Lake Nona, Florida began making noise during the 2013 season and made key plays in several games that left scouts wondering what might be in store for the coming 2014 season. Martin is a corner that appears on number of schools’ radar as the summer skills camps get underway and the fall season starts.

Jonathan is a young man that puts the team first. Lake Nona had a solid season during 2013 due, in part, to Martin’s steady play. Lake Nona finished out the 2013 season with an 8-3 record. Martin’s performance was solid throughout the season and against Cypress Creek he managed to pick off two passes. The Lake Nona defense had their most complete game of the season against Cypress Creek in what was a 27-0 shutout. I expect an even strong season from Jonathan during 2014.

Martin is a high character guy. Every time I have talked with Jonathan it is always “yes, sir and no, sir”. Martin is a polite and respectful young man away from the game of football. However, as opposing teams already know, he is a force to be reckoned with on the playing field. He is someone that stands out on the field and off the field with his character, talent, and the way he carries himself. Martin is currently drawing interest from Colgate University but as the summer goes on and eventually gives way to the fall season, the list of schools interested in this talented Florida recruit will certainly increase. Jonathan Martin is someone that football fans will want to pay attention to as National Signing Day for 2015 approaches.
