Greg White – Running Back – West Catholic (PA) – c/o 2014

Wow. Those were my exact words after looking at the first five to six plays of Greg White’s 2012 highlight video. White is currently a junior running back at West Catholic High School in Philadelphia, PA. Simply put, the kid is explosive. During the 2012 season, he carried the ball 197 times for 1,467 yards and 28 touchdowns.  White currently has offers from UMass and Ohio.

There are several things that stand out when watching White on film.  Once he gets the hand-off, White hit’s the hole fast and accelerates even faster once he is out in the open.  White is a home-run hitter from anywhere on the field.  He’s not just a “speed” guy in the backfield.  White is strong enough to pound the ball in between the tackles and does not go down easily.  He has great vision as well, showing off his impressive ability to make multiple cuts on some of his runs.  White also is an outside linebacker on the defensive side of the ball, so you know toughness is not even an issue.

At 5’9”, 190 pounds, White had a very productive season in 2012.  I think if he does well at some camps during the offseason, he’ll be able to land himself some more offers.  He’s one of the more underrated players in Pennsylvania. Varsity Preps will keep you updated on his recruitment status in the upcoming months. Click here to view his 2012 highlight video. White was also named the 2012 Philadelphia Catholic League Class AA Most Valuable Player.
