Fresno State, Prairie View A&M Latest Offers For Hoyd

Vista Murrieta (Murrieta, Calif.) linebacker Greg Hoyd III picked up a pair of offers from Fresno State and Prairie View A&M, to bring his total to seven offers.

Even before the offer this week, Hoyd was a little familiar with the Fresno area. He visited the San Joaquin Valley in 2011 to watch Fresno State host Ole’ Miss and Bulldog Stadium caught his eye.

“It’s a beautiful stadium, very beautiful,” Hoyd said in recollection.

The Prairie View A&M offer caught him a little off guard, but he said he has no problem playing out of state.

All seven of the class of 2014 linebacker prospect’s offers are for the defensive side of the ball.

Hoyd utilizes his 4.6 speed to attack ball carrier as well as dropping back into coverage. Last season the 6-foot-2, 200-pound outside linebacker recorded 81 tackles, two interceptions, four pass breakups and seven tackles for a loss.

In addition to be adept in both pass and run defense, Hoyd has been working with Southern California training and development group B2G to improve his middle linebacker skills.

B2G is great, they’ve taught me a lot,” Hoyd said. “This year I’ve had the opportunity to play with the Five-Star team and just really took advantage of it, worked hard and learned as much as I could.”

He expects to see some time at that position also during the high school season.

Hoyd hasn’t finalized his decision in regards to which team camps he’ll attend this summer, but said it’d likely be Ole’ Miss.

“I’ll probably go out there and see what they have to offer,” Hoyd said.

In addition to the two offers he received this week, Hoyd holds offers from Duke, New Mexico State, Toledo, Utah and Washington State.

Hoyd also carries a 3.2 GPA and says he’s considering majoring in electrical engineering.
