Elite 2015 OL Recruit, Jerry Tillery (LA), Talks Early Commitment

Light on his feet but tough on his opponents, 2015 offensive lineman Jerry Tillery has the will and the drive to crush anything that comes his way. Standing at 6-foot-7 and weighing in at 315 lbs. with a 5.2 40-yard dash time, Tillery is an elite recruit for any school.

From Evangel Christian Academy in Shreveport, LA, Tillery has already picked up several big time offers. Stanford, Notre Dame, Mississippi, Oregon State, and San Diego State have offered him.

Tillery will get a jump on college as he will be graduating early in December 2014. In doing so, he will be making an early commitment “sometime early next year.” For Tillery, deciding on a school isn’t just about the success of the football team but about the quality of the school as a whole.

“It’s really a combination of all of the factors,” he said. “…to the facilities, where I’d be spending most of my time, to the dorm rooms and everything. Not just one specific thing is going to be the deciding factor.”

This past year, he played on the defensive line but is still being recruited as an offensive lineman.

“I’m just really enjoying the recruiting process and giving each one a shot,” said Tillery. “It’s very exciting.”

The Evangel Christian Eagles made it all the way to the Louisiana State Finals last season and played the No. 1 team in the nation, Curtis High School. They played in the Superdome in Louisiana, which housed last year’s Superbowl.

“To get to play the State Championship on that turf was pretty cool,” he said.

Hopefully the Eagles will make it to the championships again. They will be led by a new head coach, Byron Dawson who has “been around forever” he said.

He said he doesn’t have a favorite school currently but he’s “taking everything in right now.”

The recruiting process is a family deal for the Tillery’s as he said his “parents know what’s best for him” and they are his biggest fans.

Overall, Jerry Tillery is a force to be reckoned with on and off the field. Although his stats were not available, the caliber of schools recruiting speaks for him. Brains and brawn have Tillery going down an excellent path.
