Dylan Smith, Former Player in Arkansas 25 for 2015

Bentonville High School is one of the premier football programs in the state of Arkansas, and junior running back Dylan Smith is part of the reason that the tradition for the Tigers has carried on. Smith is a hard and aggressive runner, being able to run defenders over in Arkansas’ largest classification, 7A. He follows his blocks well and reads where he need to go well. Smith looks angry when he runs, which is a trait that a lot of college coaches love to see in their running backs. There are some issues with Smith that will hamper him going into the next level. Speed is my biggest issue with Smith. Not that he is not fast, because in his film he can blow by guys, but that is high school and with the speed he has now, it won’t translate as well when every player outside of defensive tackles will be as fast if not faster than him. With interest from Arkansas, Arkansas State and Central Arkansas there is a wide array of teams and levels of opponents that Smith is being looked at to be matched up against.

The Verdict: Smith is a very good HS running back, better than most, but I see him being a 3rd down back at a school like Arkansas State, or even competing for a feature back slot at a school like Central Arkansas.

Pros: Tough to take down, Good vision, Good cuts, Sheds foot tackles, Keeps feet moving, Hits running holes aggressively

Cons: Upright runner/Only top RB’s can get away with this, Breakaway speed is lacking, Looks a lot slower than listed 40 time
