Dontae Jones: Next Breakout Louisiana Running Back

The State of Louisiana producing great running backs could easily become a constant in life. The next running back that is going to burst onto the scene in 2014 is Dontae Jones out of John Curtis High School in New Orleans. One of the great things about this is this fall is people will have this year to watch him mature in the high school ranks and become a dangerous tailback by the time National Signing Day 2015 gets here.
Jones is looking to follow in the footsteps of Reggie Dupard, Joe McKnight, Chris Howard, and Jonathan Wells. Dontae has the quickness off the line, is dangerous in the open field and he reminds more than a few folks of a Joe McKnight-type a player. Many schools are starting to see the same qualities that recruiting gurus do and have started to scout Jones very heavily. LSU, Louisiana-Monroe, Louisiana-Lafayette, and Tulane have all started to show interest in Dontae. The Louisiana schools are just the beginning of what should be a very interesting recruiting process for the next back out of John Curtis.
Dontae will get a large portion of the workload for the upcoming season. Jones is the next man up for John Curtis with the departures of Raekwon James and Malachi Dupre, a large portion of the offense will need to be made up and that starts with Jones. The Patriot offense is more of a run based offense so John Curtis fans should expect a big season from Dontae as the summer moves along. Dontae should not have a problem taking the reins and picking up where the backs that came before him left off.
Dontae is an intelligent, driven young man. Every time I talk with him he is very polite and well-spoken and that is what coaches look for in the young men that they are recruiting. Dontae knows he needs a strong season and to do well in the summer camps those colleges put on and I really don’t see that as a problem for him. Football fans in Louisiana need to keep an eye on Dontae Jones as does the rest of the country because it is a strong possibility that he is going to make an impact at a D1 school within in the next two years. To John Curtis fans enjoy the show, because it should be a fun ride for you and for Dontae.
