Derrick Banks: Class of 2015 Spotlight

HOMER – Numerous of recruiting classes have talented sleeper prospects with tons of potential. A wide receiver (WR) and strong safety (SS) from Homer is one of the many players who fall into that sleeper prospect status.

Derrick Banks is a 6’3”, 183-pounder who maxes out at 325 pounds on the bench press and 355 pounds on squat and began his high school football career as a sophomore with 83 yards rushing on 4 carries, 215 yards receiving on 10 receptions, 4 touchdowns, 109 yards on returns and 3 interceptions.

Now Banks has compiled 149 yards rushing on 9 carries, 234 yards receiving on 27 receptions and 4 touchdowns just within the 2014 season.

Banks has received letters from Southern Arkansas University (SAU), University of Houston (UH), University of Louisiana at Lafayette (ULL) and Baylor.

Banks is still working on his first offer and is a hidden gem in the 2015 recruiting class. His work ethic and attitude will make him an excellent addition to any roster.

“An offer would mean everything to me,” Banks said. “It means another team out there believes in me.”
