Class of 2018 Spotlight – Brandon Hayden Kickoff Specialist Sulphur High Tors


In this world of football there is one special area that is often overlooked by many but is also one of the most valuable positions on the field. Special Teams plays a vital roll in many games and can even be the deciding point between a win and a loss.

One of those top special team prospects in Louisiana that has emerged since the spring is Brandon Hayden, Kickoff Specialist for the Sulphur High Tors.  Hayden has a lofty frame standing 6’0″ and weighing 165 lbs.  He averages 64 yards per kickoff and a long of 68 yards. His kickoff average pins many opposing teams deep in their own territory. During the 2016 season, he had 50 kickoffs with 46 landing inside the 10 or as a touchback. He also has a very impressive sky kick that can drop the ball inside the 15-20 yard line allowing his special team teammates to have a chance to make a play on the ball.

Not only does Hayden play football but he is also a standout Track athlete and holds the school record in the 300M Hurdles for the Tors.  He also is a true student/athlete in the classroom as he boost a 3.97 GPA and currently has a 21 on his ACT.

Hayden’s current offers include Lakeland University, University of Puget Sound, Illinois College, Brevard College (track/football), Rockford University, Lawerence (Verbal), Ave Maria University (Verbal), Louisiana College (track/football), Sterling (verbal), Willamette University, College of Wooster, Gavilan College, CUA, and ASA(track)* and most recently he received an opportunity to continue his academic and athletic career at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond.

When you ask him who is biggest influence is he immediately will tell you that it is his parents and his past/present coaches.  They have been there with him through the years and his progress. They believe in him and push him to be the best player and person he can be everyday.

Outside of athletics, Brandon is also a very strong Christian and believes that without Christ he can accomplish nothing, but with him he can accomplish anything. His favorite verse and one that he holds with him every time he touches the field is Philippians 4:13
