BC Becomes 1st Offer for Atlanta Lineman

Westminster School (Ga) 2014 OL Samuel Schmal attended a player camp up at Boston College University last weekend and he impressed so much that before he left Boston he ended up receiving his 1st official offer.

The Eagles offered Schmal after displaying athleticism and the ability to take his man to the second level but also showing the potential to compete on the Division 1 football level.

“I am real excited about having an offer from Boston College and I couldn’t feel more blessed about knowing my shot at playing college football is right in front of me, said Schmal.”

The recruiting process for Schmal has just basically began to start. He has been an under the radar prospect since the end of his junior season but now could be on the verge of breaking out.

Schmal is a 6’5 260 lb offensive lineman that is still coming into his own and has a ways to go before his body is ready to compete with the monsters in college football. What Schmal has going for him is his long and athletic frame along with outstanding athleticism that gives him to chance to handle pass rushers on the edge.

“I am working really hard this offseason in the weight room trying to get bigger and making sure I have all the tools needed to not only shine during my senior season but also give me the opportunity to play Division 1 football, Schmal said.”

“I train with my teammates all the time and they push me everyday to become the best player I can. The competition at Westminster allows me to go against talented players and shows me what the level of play will be like in college football. I am doing everything it takes this summer to prepare myself for my senior year but also a possible shot at college football.”

Boston College is the 1st school to endorse the talents of Schmal and could be the eventual team to beat. The trip to the Northeast was a fun time for Schmal and he could easily see himself living and playing in the Boston area.

“I really enjoyed my time up there and I liked the coaching staff a lot,” said Schmal. “I didn’t know too much about the Boston area but really loved what I saw and could easily see myself fitting in up there.”

“The coaches made me feel at home and told me they really liked my talents and thought my best days were ahead of me. I really think I did well at their camp and coaches must have agreed. They set me aside after the camp and told me they wanted to officially offer me. I feel honored to have an offer from them and Boston College will continue to stay at the top of my list regardless of what happens in my recruitment.”

More schools are beginning to get involved with the recruitment of Schaml and the interest could pick up after receiving an official BCS offer.

“I have been talking a good bit to Vanderbilt, Tennessee, Arkansas, Ole Miss and TCU. Vanderbilt’s O-Line coach told me he really likes me and wants to see how I do throughout my senior year. The others are staying in contact and all tell me they plan to come see me in person at some point I time, Schmal said.”

“I am going to take a couple of weeks off from camping to train and enjoy a little bit of summer. I do plan to camp at Georgia in a couple of weeks and I am excited about being there. I hope more schools get involved but I am just going to keep working hard and wait and see what happens.”

Schmal is a hard working and smart young man that has the tools to play on the highest level of college football. Boston College was the 1st school to recognize his talents but most certainly won’t be the last.
