Alex Gourley: 2016 North Carolina Spotlight

Alex Gourley is a young man that is going to have a very interesting recruitment over the next year. Gourley is a 6’1, 272 pound center from Statesville, North Carolina. Gourley has a great handle on his offensive game and is already proving to be one of the better centers in the class of 2016. Gourley, is already garnering interest from BYU, N.C. State, Duke, North Carolina, and East Carolina just to name a few.

The honors on the field for Alex continue to increase and are quite impressive, especially when you consider the young man is only a sophomore. The list of honors on the field includes being named to the Charlotte Observer 2013 All-Region team, where he was the only sophomore named to the team. The performance on the field lead to the Rivals Scouting Service inviting Alex to perform at the Rivals Underclassman Challenge in Dallas, Texas at the end of the 2013 season. Gourley also took part in one of the premier skills camps at the United States Army All American Game in January of this year. To top it off, Gourley he has been part of a 2012 state championship team and been offensive player of the week 11 times over the course of the 2012 and 2013 seasons.

Many coaches take a look at the attitude of the players they are recruiting both on and off the field. Alex Gourley is someone with an off-the-field personality to match his talent on the field. He is a respectful young man that puts the needs of others before his own.  Gourley is also a great student athlete with his grade point average sitting at a 4.8. Gourley is not only someone you want to anchor your offensive line at the center position; 0he is someone you want on your team just from the teammate perspective. He has the talent to make those around him better. I believe the best is yet to come for Alex and I look forward to following his recruitment in the coming season. A coach and a college football program somewhere in the near future are going to be lucky in landing Alex. A great player and a great young man will soon be arriving on your campus.
