Airline’s Got Talent

Louisiana has a lot of depth and talent in the class of 2016. Quite a few of these athletes come from North LA, particularly Airline High School.

Flying slightly under the recruiting radar, Vertain Allen, Deangelo Pouncy, Tyrice Neal and Shun’Cee Thomas each have been making noise on the field.

Allen is a 6’1, 200-pound OLB/SS with a 3.0 GPA and a 19 on his ACT.

Last season Allen compiled 36 total tackles, 3 sacks, caused 2 fumbles and a deflected pass, and earned a defensive spot on the All-District 1-5A team.

Despite his success in the 2014 season, Allen has been working in the offseason where he now runs a 4.65 (40) and maxes 290 (bench) and squats 370.

“I started playing football ever since I was five-years-old,” Pouncy said. “Then I began playing for Airline High my freshman year and became a starter my sophomore year.”

Going into week four, Pouncy has already racked up two interceptions, one pick-6, three tackles for loss and 19 total tackles.

So far Pouncy has yet to receive any offers, but has received letters from a few colleges.

Pouncy is also putting work in the classroom has he maintains a 3.2 GPA and 20 ACT.
