#73 in Elite 101 in FL: DB/WR Cornelius Floyd, Gulliver Prep

2014 DB/WR Cornelius Floyd (6’1, 170, 4.49) of Gulliver Prep in Florida comes in at #73 in the Elite 101 in FL, ranking as the No. 11 safety in the state. He currently holds 14 verbal offers from West Virginia, Wake ForestArkansas, Pittsburgh, and Cincinnati, among others. Auburn, Indiana, Illinois, UCLA, and USF are also recruiting him.

Floyd told Varsity Preps he’s attended two university camps this summer. “I went to Temple’s camp with a friend and I attended Florida’s Friday Night Lights camp.”

Gulliver Prep’s two-way starter reports there has been conversation between his coaches and the Gators’ staff. “My coaches have spoken with DB coach Travaris Robinson about me and they wanted me to camp this weekend,” Floyd stated. “Yesterday, I sat in Coach Robinson’s office and we had a good discussion. The camp was very competitive, I enjoyed the whole experience.”

Floyd described his contact with several of the programs currently recruiting him. “I’ve spoken with both Illinois and Indiana. They’re keeping up with me and want to see a few games of my senior season.

“I like the coaching staff at Wake Forest. They like Florida prospects and they’re recruiting me for safety and wide receiver.

Arkansas LB coach Randy Shannon and DB coach Taver Johnson do a good job of staying in touch,” he said. “They want me to come up for an official visit. I’ll definitely be making a visit up to Fayetteville.”

Two programs, according to Floyd, are showing him a lot of attention. “Wake Forest and Arkansas are recruiting me the hardest.”

Floyd will wait until after the season to make his college choice, but said Cincinnati will likely get an official visit in addition to Wake Forest and Arkansas. “I’d like to take all five of my official visits, but I’ll keep the other two visits open for now in case a few more programs come into the picture late.”

Over the offseason, the rising senior has been polishing his overall game. “I’ve improved my speed, power, and I’ve concentrated on becoming mentally tougher.”

He says Gulliver Prep could have a special season in front of them. “I could see us at the Citrus Bowl. We have a strong team bond, we’re all brothers. It’s a tight family and we’re working hard to get there.”
