Article by Michael Bradley

Florida is no stranger to college recruiters, with hundreds of recruits being talented enough to move on to the next level every year. 2017 prospect Justin Korakakos of Dr. Krop in Miami, FL is another talented athlete looking to extend his educational and athletic careers.

A look at his tape quickly reveals Korakakos has a lot to offer: he’s a multi-positional standout, having experience playing special teams, including punting and returning punts and kickoffs. His resume also includes making big plays at wide receiver and defensive back. Additionally, he’s a full academic qualifier that’s looking for a home the next four of five seasons.

Recently, Korakakos told that he’s visited Florida International and Stetson unofficially, and that he’s been offered a preferred walk-on position at Florida Atlantic.

The Dr. Krop product spoke about his most recent visit to Deland, FL to see Stetson. “It was a good visit. I went to a game, met with the recruiting coordinator and some of the players. He was telling us how everything works there, about campus life, and the recruiting process.”

What stood about that particular visit? “I felt like they presented a united front, a family atmosphere. I felt really comfortable.”

The 6’1, 180-pound athlete shared a few details about his trip to FIU. “I took a quick look down there before the coaching change, but I haven’t heard from them since,” Korakakos said. “Postgame, we were allowed to be in the locker room with the players, meet with some of the coaches, stuff like that.”

Although location won’t play a role in his final decision, playing in South Florida does appeal to him.

“I like FIU, Miami is home. It would be a really great opportunity to stay home and play in front of friends and family, but I’m looking for a program that wants me. That’s a really big part of my decision making. I really want to continue my education and play football in college, and I’ll do that anywhere.”

Korakakos benches 255, squats 475, and cleans 205 pounds. His fastest 40 is 4.52. He plans to major in Sports Administration or Forensic Science.
