2016 WR Jerron Rollins, Miami Palmetto

2016 WR Jerron Rollins (6’2, 170) of Miami Palmetto played in every game last season as a freshman.

This offseason, he won Best WR award at a NUC combine and was invited to Florida’s camp but was unable to attend. “I didn’t make it to any university camps this summer, but I definitely plan on making some camps next year. I’ve just been working hard in the weight room with Palmetto.”

His hard work has resulted in a more complete football player. “I’ve improved my speed, endurance, footwork, and quickness. I feel like I elevated my overall game.”

Rollins is already hearing from several programs across the country. “I’m getting mail from NebraskaOle MissArkansasCincinnatiFIUFAU, Florida, and Florida St.,” he told Varsity Preps. “I’d like to hear from Miami, LSU, and Alabama.”

The standout sophomore did get an unofficial visit in last year. “I attended FAU’s Junior Day and I saw the game between FAU and FIU last season,” he said. “I was on the field before the game, got to meet a few players and speak with the coaches. It was a nice experience.”

He talked about what factors will be important to him in his recruitment. “It would be great to play closer to home, but if push comes to shove, I won’t have any problem leaving.

“I’ll consider the depth chart. Early playing time will be something I’d like to earn as a freshman.”

His individual goals for 2013 are 75 receptions and at least one score in every game. While the Palmetto Panthers will be a young team, Rollins expects to be competitive this season. “We have some good players: LB Mikal Smith, QB Matt Coll, WR Desean Cannon, and RB/LB Dwayne Pruitt, so I think we’ll challenge some teams this fall. We’re going to have a great season and I think we can take it as far as we want.”
