Canes, Noles Interested in 2016 CB/WR Dionte Mullins of Gulliver Prep

2016 WR/DB Dionte Mullins (6’0, 167, 4.48) of Gulliver Prep in Florida recorded 29 receptions for 379 yards and five scores as a freshman starter. He was named a MaxPreps 2nd team Freshman All-American and was a standout at the Palm Beach Shootout 7-on-7 tournament two weekends ago for Hardknocks.

Mullins told Varsity Preps he’s already receiving mail from Miami, Florida St.Indiana, Mississippi St., and Georgia St.

The freshman standout plans to camp at Miami, FSU, and is in the process of deciding on a few others. “Other than UM and FSU, my coach will help me decide where to attend camp.”

Gulliver Prep’s young playmaker said he has interest in Miami and Tennessee. He talked about both programs.

Tennessee has a great program, it’s in the SEC, and they throw the ball around a lot,” Mullins said. “Miami has a young, talented team and they’re on the rise.”

He takes pride in his ability to block and make the tough catches. “I love to block and I feel I have the hands of a possession receiver. My route running is good, but I’m working on my cuts and speed to slip corners. I just need to get better overall.”

Mullins is running track, competing in the 200M, 4x100M relay, and the long jump. His personal best time in the 200M is 23.7 seconds.

This fall, he’ll start both ways at receiver and corner, and will return kicks and punts for Gulliver Prep.

Scouting Report by Coach Warren:

Dionte will be an elite prospect by the time he’s a senior. He has great speed and hands, tremendous athleticism, and plays with confidence. Mullins plays both corner and receiver, so it’ll take another year to figure out which side of the ball he’ll be recruited for. If he continues to develop at his current pace, he’ll be among the most highly coveted prospects in the country for the Class of 2016.
