2015 Watch List QB Chris Riddle Transfers to Sandalwood

2015 Watch List QB Chris Riddle (6’2, 190) is on the move.

The sophomore signal-caller has completed a transfer from Bishop O’Connell in Virginia to state powerhouse Sandalwood in Florida. “It’s a tremendous opportunity for me to test my ability against some of the best athletes and competition in the country. I’m excited about it.”

He explained how the transfer came about. “My dad was asked to relocate for his job, so we researched schools in Jacksonville and Sandalwood really stood out because of the level of competition they face.”

Riddle is quickly becoming familiar with the offensive weapons at his disposal. “I’ve already had the chance to throw with my new teammates. We got a 7-on-7 going Tuesday and we’ll definitely do more of that,” he said. “All of the receivers are tall, fast, and have great hands. One thing that’s stood out thus far is their work ethic. I’ve already had a couple of the guys ask me when we’ll be throwing again.”

One of the main reasons the Riddle’s chose Sandalwood was the experience of the coaching staff. “I’m impressed with our staff. Our head coach, Adam Geis, is the son of Buddy Geis, who coached in the NFL and college for over 30 years, so I’m excited about working with and learning from him.”

On the recruiting trail, Riddle has seen his recruitment take shape in the last few months. Florida, LSU, Georgia, Maryland, Boston College, and Notre Dame have shown the most interest to date.

He’ll camp at Florida, LSU, and Maryland this summer, with a possibility of a few more.

He recently visited the Gators and got a closer, more intimate look at their program. “I took in a spring practice, and I talked with OC Brent Pease, got a lot of one-on-one time with him,” Riddle said. “He told me that I was on the short list of 2015 QBs that he’s looking at right now.”

Florida will follow up with Sandalwood’s new quarterback at a spring practice, which is set to begin May 1st.
