2015 Watch List MLB Emilio Gibbs, Coral Gables

2015 Watch List MLB Emilio Gibbs (6’3, 215, 4.7) of Coral Gables HS in Florida doesn’t claim any offers, but says he’s hearing from Florida St.Wake ForestIllinois, and Georgia.

The talented junior linebacker spoke about the contact he’s had with each program.

FSU: “I went to one of their camps last summer and I’ve kept in touch ever since. The Seminoles want me to unofficially visit as soon as I can.”

WF: “I talk to them almost every day,” he explained. “The coaches tell me that I’d be a tremendous addition to their linebacker corps and they want me to take an unofficial visit for a game later this fall.”

ILLINI: “I haven’t communicated with them much, but I know they like me and want me to visit.”

UGA: “They like my size and how I’m playing, but I haven’t spoken with them that much.”

MIA: “I attended an Al Golden camp, but I haven’t heard much from the Canes.”

Through four games, Gibbs has recorded 25 tackles, five tackles for loss, and two sacks.

The junior standout said that a quality education will be the biggest factor when deciding on a program to play for on the next level. “Education will always be the most important thing, I want a good degree.”

A program’s location, Gibbs mentioned, will not enter into his decision making process.

He feels that the best aspects of his game are being reliable in the middle and making plays. Part of his confidence is his natural strength: he boasts a 315-pound bench press, 395-pound squat, and a 255-pound power clean. “I’m a downhill linebacker, I like the contact and being physical.”

Asst. coach David Cooney on Gibbs: “He’s an ideal middle linebacker. He’s hard-nosed, plays downhill. I think once his junior film starts going out, we’ll see some more interest come his way. He’s only four weeks into his junior season and he’s coming along well.”
