2015 Watch List (FL) OL Tarrick Thomas Hearing from Canes, Noles

2015 Watch List OL Tarrick Thomas (6’4, 270) of Tallahassee Lincoln doesn’t claim any offers, but reports he’s had contact with Florida St. and Miami, and has interest in Auburn.

The talented junior lineman, who sports a 3.1 GPA, shared some details about his recruitment.

“I think FSU is definitely interested. I get mail from them almost every week and I’ve already been to a few games. I like FSU because it’s close to home and my dad went to school there.

“The Hurricanes are sending mail, saying they want me to attend a few games this fall,” he stated. “Honestly, I don’t know too much about Miami, but I’m finding out what they’re all about.

“My sophomore year, I took a trip to Auburn with Kendall Randolph and really liked it, so I’d like to hear from them in the future.”

Thomas was able to attend a pair of camps over the offseason at FSU and the Down and Dirty camp.

“I liked my time at FSU, they have a good atmosphere there. I think the staff wants me to play defensive tackle and take a look at me at end as well,” he mentioned. “The Down and Dirty camp had a great atmosphere, I met a lot of great people, and the competition was good.”

One thing that Thomas focused on during the summer was improving his run blocking.

“I definitely elevated my game there and I increased my overall conditioning level. Last season, my run blocking wasn’t where I wanted it to be, but I concentrated on coming out of my stance lower and with more explosion. As a sophomore, I was coming out of my stance too high.”

Lincoln’s standout lineman feels that they’ll be competitive again and might even be better than last year’s squad that lost in the state championship game to St. Thomas Aquinas.

“We put in a lot of hard work during the offseason and fall camp. We focused on the little things, the attention to detail to help us win games. We have a lot of returning talent, and I think we can be a better team than last year. Everyone is playing within their role and I feel everything’s in place to make another run at a state championship.”

Thomas said his goal in 2013 is to bring Tallahassee Lincoln another state championship.

“Last season left a bad taste in our mouths, we all just want to get it out. That’s our only goal.”
