2015 Watch List CB/K Malik Wisdom, McArthur High, FL

2015 Watch List CB/K Malik Wisdom (5’10, 180, 4.62) of McArthur High in Florida is a prospect that is starting to command serious attention because of his overall athleticism and unusual skill set. In addition to being a fast, physical defensive back, Wisdom kicks and punts, making him even more attractive to college recruiters.

He claims no offers currently, but reports to Varsity Preps he’s hearing from Kentucky, NC State, Duke, and South Alabama. He spoke about how each program is recruiting him. “Kentucky is showing the most interest. The staff was at one of our spring practices scouting me last week.

NC State sends a ton of mail, South Alabama is sending me letters letting me know they really like me,” he said. “Duke sent me an invitation to come to their summer camp.”

This summer, he plans to attend camps at MiamiFlorida, Florida St., and UCF.

Wisdom is staying in football shape by participating on the Strong Arm 7-on-7 squad. He talked about how that experience translates on Friday nights. “It’s helping me learn more coverages and techniques I can use during the fall. We’re competing against the best players in the state, I feel like our whole team has improved.”

McArthur’s talented sophomore athlete posted two interceptions last season and kicked a career-long 40-yard field goal. Wisdom mentioned what he’s been working on this offseason. “At kicker, I’m trying to increase my range,” he said. “I feel that my jam and overall aggressiveness are strengths, so I’ve been concentrating on my agility and opening up my hips in coverage.”

Three factors will determine his college choice. “My biggest concerns will be academics, how early I can get on the field, and how close to home the program is. I’d prefer to play college football in Florida.”

Wisdom has no timetable on making a verbal commitment, but he does have a favorite in mind. “I like Miami. It’s close to home and they’re the hometown team.”
