2015 Watch List CB Desmond Cain Holds S. Carolina Offer

2015 Watch List CB Desmond Cain (5’11, 180, 4.54) of American Heritage Delray in Florida currently doesn’t own an extensive offer list, but after this season gets underway, it would be no surprise to see him start collecting some big time offers.

“My only offer right now is from South Carolina, but I’m being recruited by Michigan St., Miami, and Florida.”

Cain shared with Varsity Preps how each program is recruiting him.

“I speak to South Carolina DB coach Grady Brown a lot, they want me to play corner. He’s saying that they need corners to play press coverage and I feel that’s one of my strengths. I’ll be visiting Columbia on the 24th.”

The Hurricanes and the Gators have expressed serious interest in the Heritage Delray prospect.

Miami wants me at corner. I didn’t get a chance to camp there, but I’ve called them a few times,” Cain said. “The Gators have recruited me since my freshman season, so I have some interest.”

Michigan St. has also reached out to Cain, but he admits he doesn’t know much about the Spartans.

“I’m still exploring Michigan St.’s program.”

Cain said he’s not attended any camps or combines since last offseason, but plans to attend the CVCD camp Sunday at Oxbridge Academy in West Palm Beach. (More details can be found here)

Having the opportunity to play college football in the state of Florida will affect his college choice.

“Yes sir, I’d prefer to play college football closer to home.”

Academics and early playing time will also play major roles in his decision.

“Education is always first. I have a 3.3 GPA and I’m looking to contribute as a freshman.”

Cain said he’s expecting to see time at wideout and defensive back.

“I’ll be starting at wide receiver and corner.”

The talented junior feels American Heritage Delray’s hard work will propel them into the state championship tournament.

“Everyday is intense. We’re running, weightlifting, doing core workouts… the team leaves tired every single day, but we’re working toward the goal of being crowned state champs, but we’re taking one day at a time.”
