Pickett-White  camped at South Florida and Florida over the summer.

“For USF’s camp, I went as a receiver primarily. I worked out at quarterback some toward the end of camp. It was a good experience.

“At UF, it was awesome, the best camp I was able to go to. It showed me that there’s still a lot of hard work in front of me. I really enjoyed the experience.”

Southwest Miami’s junior standout talked about the programs he likes.

“I like Oregon, Miami, and Florida,” he stated.

“I love Oregon’s offense and would love an opportunity to run it.

“I like the tradition at UM. I also like that it’s the hometown team, it’s close so family could see me play, and I feel like I can fit into their offense.

“I also think Florida has good tradition and it’s all about winning championships there.”

Over the summer, he focused on improving his quarterback skills.

“I’ve improved my strength, speed, and ability to read defenses. I wanted to take more control of my offense and I think I did that.”

Pickett-White believes his Southwest Miami team will compete for a state championship in 2013.

“I want to help my team win games and get us in position to compete for the state championship. I think we have a good chance,” he said. “We have a close unit, we don’t have any individuals on this team. We have a tight family and I’ll think that will help us be better overall.”
