2015 Spotlight James “PJ” Locke

2015 DB P.J Locke (6’0 190) of Central Senior (Beaumont, TX) claims only one offer, but reports interest from TCU, Texas A&M, Baylor, Texas Tech, Auburn, Boise State, Washington, Cal, Indiana and Nebraska.

The talented junior defensive back, spoke about his first offer from SMU.

“The offer from SMU came unexpectedly; they offered me during the spring after an unofficial visit. They wanted to see a full game film, once they saw it, they offered.”

The 2015 standout talked about the programs he likes.

“All of the programs that are recruiting me stand out at the moment.  SMU is high on my list because they have a great coaching staff and a beautiful campus.”

Locke attended several summer camps, including Texas Tech, Baylor, VTO 100 and The Rivals Underclassmen 250.

“I’ve gotten a lot faster, I’ve improved on my man technique and I’m more confident in my gameplay.”

Locke told Varsity Preps about his unofficial visit plans this fall.

“I plan on getting to about 6 or 7 games this season.”




Locke is a physically gifted prospect who improved over this summer and turned in some exceptional camp performance at the combine. He possesses the skills necessary to become a solid corner or safety at the BCS level.

Good at can bumping  the receiver on the release.

Good quickness and explosion and anticipation.

Displays good route recognition in zone coverage

Locke works out in the off-season with top 2014 DB Tony Brown

Beaumont Central is set to battle  Beaumont Ozen Sep 27,

Locke was invited to the Rivals Camp series and the Rivals Underclassmen Challenge

Favorite player are Earl Thomas, Kenny Vacarro and Desmond Trufant.

Goals for the season: ” To help my team make it to the playoffs and win state. Lead the district in tackles and interceptions. Increase my GPA to 3.8 and make top 10 in my class.”
