2015 RB/FS Trevon Sands Hearing from UM, UF, FSU and UGA

2015 RB/FS Trevon Sands (6’0, 175, 4.5) of Southwest Miami Senior High rushed for over 800 yards and accumulated over 1,000 all-purpose yards en route to posting 15 touchdowns last season.

He told Varsity Preps he doesn’t have any verbal offers currently, but it shouldn’t be long before the talented two-way starter begins to collect offers. “FSU, Florida, Georgia, and Alabama are showing me a lot of attention. I also get letters from Miami saying they want me to camp,” he said. “I’ll definitely camp at Miami, Florida, and Florida St. this summer.”

Sands visited Alabama during their national championship preparations at Barry University. “I got to meet some of the players and I spoke with the Secondary Coach Greg Brown. He told me to keep eating and working out, he wants me to get bigger.”

A school’s location and the promise of early playing time won’t enter into his decision making when choosing a program. “I’m not tied to Florida, I’ll go anywhere I think best fits me,” Sands said. “Promises of early playing time don’t mean much to me, I plan to work hard and earn it.”

He feels the strengths of his game are “my overall speed and elusiveness, and I break tackles well. Since Georgia is recruiting me for safety, I’ve been working on improving my footwork and coverage ability at safety.”

Sands said he does have the position in mind when he plays on the next level. “I’d like to play free safety, but if the coaches need me on offense, I’ll play running back.”

Southwest Miami enjoyed a 9-1 season last year and posted their first-ever postseason win. Sands would like to see his team return to the playoffs. “I want to pick up where we left off last year. I want to go undefeated and make a serious run for the state championship.”
