Elite 2015 CB Tyrek Cole Up to Six Offers

2015 CB Tyrek Cole (5’11, 165, 4.55) of Miramar High in Florida owns verbal offers from Miami, Florida, Florida St., NC St., South Carolina, and West Virginia. “South Carolina and NC State are the last two to offer me. South Carolina Secondary Coach Grady Brown said he’d been hearing about my play for the South Florida Express, checked out my highlight tape and decided to offer me,” Cole told Varsity Preps. “I called NC State CB Coach Richard McNutt and we had a great chat. He told me that he really wanted to coach me and extended the verbal offer.”

Cole recently visited the Hurricanes for a spring practice. “It was a great experience. Practice was smooth and intense, then after practice they held a barbecue. I spoke with Head Coach Al Golden and DB Coach Paul Williams.”

Miramar’s sophomore standout said he feels Florida is recruiting him the hardest currently. “DB Coach Travaris Robinson is recruiting me and he tells me that I fit into their system, that the Gators really like me.”

Cole said he’s planning to attend both Florida and Miami’s spring game.

He also reports that LSU and FIU are showing serious interest as well. “I feel like LSU is close and I hope they offer.”

Even with the early offers, he said “I’m still wide open, no favorites yet.”

With no decision coming in the near future, Cole does know what is important to him in his recruitment. “Academics, early playing time, and how I fit into a program’s system will be the biggest factors in my choice.”

He’s been staying in playing shape starring for the South Florida Express 7-on-7 team this spring. “We’ve been doing well, qualified for the IMG National Tournament,” he said. “I’ve gotten better covering receivers and have improved my feel for the game by playing for the Express.”

Miramar will field an imposing secondary this season and he talked about his goals for the defense. “Our goals for the “Dark Side Defense” are to shut out every opponent. In the secondary, with me, S Andre Godfrey and CB Jeff Hill, that’s lethal. I think we can be very good on defense this fall.”
