2015 CB Ronnie Hoggins, Monarch High, Florida

2015 CB Ronnie Hoggins (5’9, 165, 4.6/40) of Monarch High in Coconut Creek, Florida posted 30 tackles and four interceptions, two returned for scores last season. He also plays point guard for the basketball team and runs the 4x100M relay in track.

A very instinctual and quick corner, Hoggins told Varsity Preps he’s not been contacted by any programs just yet. He’s hoping to change that by playing for the Florida Fire 7-on-7 squad, a team based out of South Florida. He talked about the benefits of playing 7-on-7 spring football. “It’s really helping me get some exposure and I’m getting valuable extra reps against good competition.” The Fire will compete in tournaments in Orlando and West Palm Beach in the next few weeks.

He’s recently participated in area combines and by all reports shutdown the competition. “I’ve been to the NFTC and the Rivals/Under Armour Camp, and I didn’t give up any receptions in either events.”

Hoggins is in the planning stage of mapping out his summer schedule and isn’t sure which university camps he’ll attend.

Carrying a 3.0 GPA, he said he’d like to hear from “Miami, Florida, Florida St., and Clemson. They’re my favorite four schools.”

Monarch’s sophomore corner talked about what will be important to him when choosing a program. “Education will be the most important factor. I want a degree from a solid institution and be able to feel comfortable in the program,” Hoggins explained. “Location will also be a factor. I want my family to be able to see me play.

“I love to compete, so being in position to challenge for playing time would be nice, but if I have to redshirt and concentrate on getting bigger and faster, I’m open to that.”

Hoggins feels that Monarch will be much improved this fall. “We really have a lot of talent coming back. Our ultimate goal will always be to win a state championship.”
