2015 Arizona OL Hearing from SEC, PAC-12, and B1G

2015 OL Jake Grant (6’4, 270) of Horizon High in Arizona has one verbal offer from Utah. He told Varsity Preps that Arizona St., Washington, CalMichigan St., and Arkansas are showing serious interest.

Grant talked about the attention he’s receiving from the Southeastern Conference.

“I’m getting a lot of mail and social media messages from Arkansas, Auburn, Mississippi St., and Vanderbilt.”

Out west in the PAC-12, the Arizona St. Sun Devils are quite interested in the junior lineman.

“I attended the Wisconsin game for an unofficial visit. Head coach Todd Graham invited me to see the game,” he said. “I live just 30 minutes from campus, so all the coaches know me because I’ve been around the program a lot.

“We really got to see how the staff coaches, got to see some things closer. I really enjoyed my visit.”

The California Golden Bears have begun showing Grant interest.

“Offensive line coach Zach Yenser has invited me for a game, but I don’t think I’ll be able to see Cal until next summer.”

The Arizona Wildcats are frequently reaching out to him over social media.

“I attended a linemen challenge there over the summer and they’ve stayed in touch with me ever since.”

The Washington Huskies want Grant to visit their campus soon.

“My offensive line coach, Quentin Walker, played there in the early 2000’s, so he has ties there and would like to visit with me.”

In the Big 10, The Michigan St. Spartans were one of the first programs to contact him.

“During spring ball, they sent a couple of coaches to Arizona to meet with me, so I’ve always felt they’ve been genuinely interested from the start. They’ve invited me and my dad for a game, so we were thinking we might want to see the Michigan game,” he shared. “Definitely interested in Michigan St.

Grant had the opportunity to visit Los Angeles and unofficially visited the USC Trojans recently.

“What’s not to like? It’s a great program, they have great facilities, a great atmosphere at the Coliseum, and all the tradition. It’s impressive.”

The junior standout will be attendance for the Stanford/Utah game Saturday, October 12 in Salt Lake City.

“I’m pretty pumped about being there.”

Horizon High is 3-1 and ranked #9 in their division currently.

“I believe we’ll be in the state playoffs and compete for the state championship, that’s always our goal at Horizon.”
