2014 Whitehouse (TX) MLB Reggie Long Looking for Initial Offer

2014 MLB Reggie Long (6’0, 214, 4.51/40, 35″ vertical) of Whitehouse High in Texas registered 124 total tackles (80 solo), nine sacks, 12 QB hurries, three forced fumbles, and three interceptions as a starter. He was named second team all-district in recognition of his productive junior campaign.

Long reports he hasn’t been offered yet, but that he’s hearing consistently from Texas at San Antonio, North Texas, TCU, Tulsa, Oklahoma St., Florida Atlantic, Miami, and Alabama among a few others.

He spoke about how a few of the programs interested are recruiting him. “For the most part, TCU wants me to return to camp. I had a good showing last summer and I intend to go back.

“I have a friend at Oklahoma St. who’s on the team, he gave Head Coach Mike Gundy my highlight film. Ever since, I’ve been receiving a lot of mail, including handwritten letters, from the Cowboys and they want me to camp.”

Long continued, “Tulsa is having a camp session June 1. I’ve spoken with RB Coach Dan Bitson, he wants me to camp and he’s told me that they really like me and are close to offering.

UTSA is new interest for me. I think they’re really interested and I’m expecting them to offer soon.

North Texas came by school and I received a personal invitation from the staff to attend camp,” he said. “I feel they’re close to giving me a verbal offer.

“I heard from Alabama yesterday. My coach told me they requested my transcripts and film, so we’ll see.”

Long reports to Varsity Preps he’ll camp at North TexasTexas Tech, and Tulsa, and will try to make appearances at Miami, Alabama, and Oklahoma St.

Miami, Tennessee, Tulsa, and Texas State have received unofficial visits from the talented middle linebacker. “Hurricanes Offensive Line Coach Art Kehoe is recruiting me. They had been requesting a visit for awhile before I traveled down there to check out the program. Coach Kehoe, I spoke with him a few days ago, really wants me to camp. The staff likes my film, how I can run, and they want to see me workout.”

Tulsa is recruiting him the hardest currently. “They’ve made me feel like they really want me, some staff members have made multiple trips to my school.”

Long feels he excels at diagnosing plays quickly. “Sometimes I almost feel I know what the offense is going to run before they snap the ball. I think I have a nose for the ball, am always making plays, whether it’s making a big tackle or forcing turnovers.”
