2014 St. Thomas Aquinas (FL) OLB Nicholas Richardson

2014 OLB Nick Richardson of St. Thomas Aquinas (FL) has terrific size, standing at 6’4, 205 pounds. He posted 20 tackles, two interceptions, two passes broken up, and forced one fumble last season. Because of his potential, he reported to Varsity Preps that he’s hearing from Buffalo, Northwestern, UCLA, and Wake Forest.

Richardson spoke about each program recruiting him. “I’d have to say Wake Forest is my top school. They came in and told my coaches they want to see my senior film and that they want to continue to build a relationship with me.

UCLA told me they liked my junior film and they want to see some spring tape before they offer.

“Academics are the most important thing and Northwestern has a good engineering program.”

He’s attended Junior Days at Florida, FSU, FAU, and Ole Miss recently.

“I liked the environment and the facilities at Florida St.,” said Richardson. “FAU is a good program and I like what they’re doing over there. Ole Miss is a big change from South Florida, but I enjoyed my visit and I like them.”

This summer, he reports he’s planning to camp at NC St., Miami, Florida, and FSU.

St. Thomas’s junior outside linebacker feels the strength of his game is rushing the passer. “Whenever I line up and see the quarterback, I’m thinking I have to be the first one back there,” he said. “I’ve really been working on my size and concentrating on getting bigger and quicker so I can pressure the quarterback.”

Richardson mentioned what will be important to him as he makes his college choice. “My number one concern is if I’ll be able to live there for four years and how comfortable I am with the academic program.”

Historically, St. Thomas Aquinas fields a state championship contender and sends multiple prospects off to play college football every year. Richardson gave his opinion on what lies ahead for St. Thomas. “We always have good teams. This year, we just have to keep it going. I believe we are talented enough to win the state championship. We are working extremely hard and it’ll pay off for us.”
