2014 RB Aaron Duckworth, Oakleaf High, Florida

2014 RB Aaron Duckworth (5’9, 205, 4.45) of Oakleaf High in Orange Park, Florida rushed 99 times for 893 yards, scoring 10 touchdowns last season. He’s also a threat to catch the ball out of the backfield, hauling in 15 receptions for 166 additional yards and another score.

College coaches have noticed Duckworth’s ability and he currently has one verbal offer. “Western Michigan offered not long ago. We talk almost everyday and I still get lots of mail from them, so I feel that they really want me.”

Florida Atlantic is also expressing interest in Oakleaf’s talented junior. “FAU wants me for a Junior Day and I’ll camp there again this summer. I took an unofficial visit last year and it went really well,” he said. “I like the campus and the environment. I could see myself playing there.”

Duckworth told Varsity Preps he also plans to camp at Western Michigan, Auburn, Georgia Tech, and Boston College over the summer.

In addition to excelling on the gridiron, he carries a 3.0 GPA and runs track. “I run the 100M, 4x100M, and I high jump. My personal best in the 100M is 10.96.”

Running primarily from the spread, he talked about the strengths of his game and what he’s working on this offseason to perfect. “I have breakaway speed and great vision,” he said. “I’m training to become more of a power back, running with a lower pad level and delivering hits to defenders.”

He spoke about which factors will carry the most importance as he makes his college choice. “I want to find a program where I’m needed and I can compete for early playing time. Location will be important, but I’m willing to explore and attend school out of state.”

Duckworth does have a timeframe in mind on making his commitment public. “I’m thinking I want to have a decision made after the season, maybe after I take a few visits.”
