2014 Louisiana RB/CB Joe Ledet Being Courted by Several Programs

2014 RB Joe Ledet (6’0, 217, 4.49) of South Beauregard High in Louisiana is on the verge of seeing his recruitment take off. “Louisiana Lafayette, Louisiana Tech, LSU, Mississippi St., and Iowa are expressing a lot of interest.”

Ledet told Varsity Preps that Iowa recently entered the picture. “I spoke with Coach Bobby Kennedy, he told me they’re evaluating my film, they think I’m an aggressive player and they’re going to send someone down to spring practice to see me in person.”

The Ragin’ Cajuns are serious about Ledet, not only at running back, but possibly at corner. “ULL has invited me to a Junior Day and I’ll camp with them this summer. Head Coach Mark Hudspeth is recruiting me, he’s saying that he really likes me. I’m expecting an offer from ULL shortly.”

Skip Holtz and the Bulldog staff are also in pursuit of the junior standout. “Louisiana Tech RB Coach Jabbar Juluke is telling me they’re going to offer, but that the staff is discussing for which position, running back or corner. The staff is even considering me for wide receiver.”

Ledet reports lengthy and detailed discussions with LSU RB Coach Frank Wilson. “LSU wants me for camp. I’ll be playing for the Bootleggers 7-on-7 team, and the Tigers staff said they want to see me perform well and that an offer from them could follow.”

Programs located across the country want to bring in the talented back for a closer look. “Oregon, Duke, TCU, Oklahoma St., Purdue, Hawaii, and Memphis have invited me to their camps.”

One of Louisiana’s Top 20 players, Ledet talked about his plans for the next couple of weeks. “I’ll attend the ULL Junior Day next weekend, and the LSU staff wants me to swing by spring practice. Mississippi St. would like for me to drop by, too.”

Ledet lists no frontrunners and knows when he’d like to have a decision in place. “I’m wide open, I don’t have any favorites and everyone is even,” he said. “I’d prefer to end the recruiting process early and have a verbal commitment made later this spring or by summer.”
