2014 LB Jaboree Williams MVP of VTO Sports Prep 100

2014 LB Jaboree Williams (6’1, 213, 4.69) of Ft. Lauderdale High has had quite an offseason. He’s transformed himself from an under-the-radar, little known prospect at a magnet school in South Florida into a regionally recognized, highly coveted recruit. His first four offers were from SMU, South Alabama, Marshall, and Memphis. Now Ft. Lauderdale’s star defender owns offers from the likes of North Carolina, Wake Forest, Pittsburgh, and just today added an offer from Cincinnati.

To continue his string of success, he attended the VTO Sports Prep 100 in Tampa last weekend, walking away with the linebacker and overall MVP Award. “It was a great day for me. I started a little slow, but I got it together and finished strong. The competition was good and the backs I was going up against were talented.”

Williams talked about a few of his favorites currently. “North Carolina is definitely a great school. They have great academics and a great program. I’m going to try to visit them this summer and there’s a good chance they’ll be among my finalists,” he said. “They like me at inside linebacker, said I have an opportunity to earn early playing time.

Pittsburgh is recruiting me heavily. The staff told me they really like my ability, that I could play inside or outside for them. They’ve also said I could see playing time right away.

Wake Forest is my number one school right now. It’s a great academic university and I love the staff. They speak with me almost everyday. Wake Forest is another program where they said that I can come in right away and play significant minutes,” Williams said. “They’re treating me like family already and I’m impressed with their academic program. A degree from there would solidify my future.”

Williams has a busy summer planned for himself. “I’m going to every camp in Florida and North Carolina. I’m also planning to camp at SMU and Alabama, basically any and every camp I can possibly get to.”

With plans on graduating in January, his decision day is just a few short months away. “I’ll be making my decision closer to the end of our season.”
